Week of February 23, 2026
Total Hours Completed: 4 Hours
This week I focused on building the skeleton mockup for the Spring 2026 Honors Program Newsletter. After meeting with Dr. McCort, I began developing the layout using the Fall newsletter design template while referencing last spring’s content for structure.
I spent a total of four hours working on the mockup throughout the week. During this time, I organized section headers, built page layouts, inserted placeholder text, and structured visual hierarchy so the newsletter has a clear flow. Since we are still waiting on student copy and some event recaps, I focused on creating the framework rather than finalized content.
One challenge I encountered was determining how much creative flexibility I have within the template. I was told to keep the same template, so I wanted to be careful not to overstep or make changes that would move too far away from the established design. Because of that, I approached this phase conservatively — prioritizing consistency, alignment, and organization over redesign. At the same time, I am thinking about subtle ways to modernize spacing and improve readability while staying within the boundaries of the original structure.
Overall, this week was about building the foundation. Once the remaining copy is received, I will be able to refine the layout and fully develop the final Spring 2026 edition.
